Pet grooming salons and mobile services.  Updated advice effective 31 July 2021.

Under the Public Health (COVID-19 Additional Restrictions for Delta Outbreak) Order 2021 pet grooming services are not directed to close.

Please note that, effective from the beginning of 29 July 2021, persons in the Greater Sydney area may only leave their place of residence to obtain pet grooming services within their LGA or within 10 km of their place of residence, unless the services are not reasonably available within those limits.

Additional restrictions apply to persons who live in the Fairfield, Canterbury-Bankstown, Liverpool, Cumberland, Blacktown, Parramatta, Georges River and Campbelltown local government areas (LGA).

Effective from the beginning of 30 July 2021, persons in these LGAs may only leave their place of residence to obtain pet grooming services within their LGA or within 5km of their place of residence, unless the services are not reasonably available within those limits.

Persons in these LGAs may only leave their residence to attend work outside of their LGA if they are an authorised worker. The list of authorised workers is published on the NSW Government website. It excludes pet grooming services unless there is an immediate animal welfare reason.  Persons in these LGAs may not leave their LGA to provide pet grooming services, unless there is an immediate animal welfare reason.

As well, please note the following worker testing requirements apply;

  • Effective from 31 July 2021, persons who live or stay in the Canterbury-Bankstown local government area must have a COVID-19 test once every 72 hours (3 days) before work outside of the Canterbury-Bankstown local government area.

  • Persons who live or stay in the Greater Sydney area including the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong and Shellharbour, must have a COVID-19 test in the 7 days before working if they work at a place 50km or more outside Greater Sydney.

  • The workers subject to testing requirements must carry proof of their COVID-19 test such as an SMS text message on their phone or an email and must show the proof to the manager of a workplace they attend or a police officer if asked.

  • These workers do not need to get the results of their COVID-19 test before going to or staying at work.

For the safety of pet grooming service providers and the safety of their clients, NSW Health encourages the rescheduling of any grooming services that can be delayed or are not required for animal welfare purposes.
