PIAA Industry TrainingPIAA members have access to an extensive list of nationally accredited qualifications for the Pet Industry. Many of these can be offered as traineeships and may receive goverment rebates off setting the cost of training. Please go to the "Member's Only" section of this web site for the full list of training programs available to you.Until 2004, the Pet Industry had no “industry standard” upon which to base its standard operating practices other than the PIAA National Code of Practice. Now with the release of the Animal Care & Management Training Package (ACM TP), and the Companion Animal Services sector, we as an industry are heading in the right direction. A number of Registered Training Organisations including TAFEs and other RTO's are creating courses that meet the new training package requirements during 2005/2006. The “ACM TP” will be re-endorsed every three years by the Federal Government Authority - Agri-Foods Industry Skills Council and as a result, the pet industry will become more professional through a well trained and competent workforce. It is “our” needs that will change over time and that is the reason for the on-going three-yearly reaccreditation process. AGRI-FOODS Industry Skills Council is the peak body for training and work force development for the Austrlaian Agri-Food Industry. The Pet Industry education and training package fall with in the Agri-foods Industy Skills Council responsibility. To find our more about the Agri-foods Industry Skills Council - Click here. ACCREDITED COURSES – Certificated and assessed training offered by a RTO. NON-PET INDUSTRY ACCREDITED COURSES – Trades and Administration courses.
